In this article I want to talk to you about ManageWP, a tool that I have used in the past and that has been really useful to me.

ManageWP it’s a program online which allows you to manage from a single control panel multiple sites WordPress.

In broad terms, using this tool you can:

… and more, for multiple sites, from a single Dashboard.

Now let’s see in detail how ManageWp works.

What is ManageWP

Basic Manage WP is a free tool; you can create a account, to install the plugin and try the basic features without having to face any expense. The monetization plan is quite complicated and is based on the “pay only for what you use” principle. To use this wl-thing”>plugin you will not be subjected to expense of installation, penalties or long-term contracts.

This basic tool offers so many features and 24-hour support. Some of the add-on available for free I’m:

Visiting the site of Manage WP, pricing section you can consult the list of features available for free and at payment.

For those who manage up to 25 sites, this tool offers prices per site and additional features like backup automated ($ 2 per month per site), monitoring service ($ 1 per month per site), placement SEO ($ 1 per month per site) etc.

This type of monetization is very advantageous for those who have few sites to manage but still want to take advantage of services automated and advanced.

For those who really manage many sites, such as agencies etc., it is advisable to consider the packages, moving to monthly fees between 25 and 75 $ depending on the services.

The ManageWP Worker plugin

This is the tool that must be installed on your site so that it can “communicate” with ManageWP.

One time installed, the wl-thing”>plugin does nothing within the site WordPress same; obviously, it makes sense to install it only if you have subscribed to one of the ManageWP plans.

More information is available on plugin on the official WordPress site.

Management of individual sites

As I mentioned above, on the left side of the control panel find the list of all the sites linked to yours account.

By clicking on the various domains, you can view all the information related to a specific site.

On this screen, you will find all available updates first. You can make the updates individually (by clicking “Update“At the plugin or del theme) or in a group (by clicking “Update All “).

On ManageWP you will also find a text field where to leave notes about your site. WordPress features integrated on ManageWP

From the panel WordPress, you can also work on some key features of WordPress. For example, you can to add post and also to install plugin is themes.

ManageWP works like this:

  • when you click in the left menu on Add a new post, the page opens within ManageWP WordPress real for the creation of articles;
  • when you want instead to install a new plugin or theme, you can do it directly within the ManageWP pages. Here you can choose whether to upload the folder .zip from your PC, if doing a search within the repository WordPress or even from Dropbox.

One of the most interesting features of ManageWP is the one to do backup.

THE backup they can be done manually (clicking Backup now) or so automatic (the minimum plan required is that Business).

Manual backups

Clicking Backup now one opens window with various options:

  • Backup Type: dabase only (i.e., only the database) or backup whole wheat (file + database)
  • Number of Backups to Keep: you can set how many copies of the site to save. For example, if you choose three, when you make the fourth backup this overwrites the older one already present in the folder.
  • Exclude / Include files and folders: specifications can be excluded and included respectively folders.

In the second window you can instead set where to save copies of backup. These can be saved on the server same as the site, or on one platform external like Google Drive is Dropbox.

Before starting the backup, it is also possible test that the connection works correctly by clicking on Test Connection.

managewp manual backups

Finally, ticking the entry “Save settings for next time”, You can have ManageWP save the settings of backup for the next time or when you start a manual one (this is particularly useful if you have signed up for a plan that does not include i backup automatic).

Automatic backups

They can be configured backup automatic daily, weekly and monthly, at the time you prefer.

The options available are the same as the backup manuals.
